Manually Repair Desktop Icon

Summary

This tutorial guides you through the steps to fix a missing or broken Desktop icon for the Digital Cold Chain.

This can happen during installation of a new version, typically due to security measures on your computer which don't allow the install-script to make the according changes to your computer. Fortunately, it is easy to repair this manually.

Step 1: Find location of startup-screen:

Open a file explorer window and paste the following path into the address field, see also the example image below.

Important: Before proceeding, the user must specify the current software version. In the below example, the software version is specified as 2.1.0. Without this information, the system cannot locate the correct path for the update.

This should open the installation directory containing a file called VirtualColdChain.nb.

Step 2: Create a desktop shortcut

Right-click the file and, from the context menu, select "Create shortcut". Then, you can cut and paste this shortcut into your desktop.

When you double-click the shortcut, it should launch the application.
